This week students will push the limits on the snack concept and prepare a variety of wholesome, delicious, and unique nibbles. This is not your mother’s PB&J! Chefs will prepare a variety of bite-sized munchies like chicken salad cups, homemade granola bars, veggie nachos, roasted red pepper hummus with homemade pita chips and more. No one will go hungry this week!

Cupcakes are all the rage and it’s a trend that’s clearly here to stay! If you’ve ever been curious about how the pros make those cupcakes so precious and ornate, and if competition is your middle name, then this is the week for you! We’ll spend three days on cupcake basics — measuring, mixing, baking, and frosting, and then finish the week with two days of baking battle! Small teams will face off with one another to compete for the title of “Best Cupcake!” May the best cupcake win!

Explore, create and have fun at Imaginative Artists camp! Campers work independently and in groups to make artistic modern and contemporary masterpieces and explore their creative side. Headfirst artists are challenged in a variety of mixed media including acrylic painting, pen and ink drawing, wire and collage. They learn and develop their own Mondrian art, Warhol pop art creations, Calder wire portraits, comics and much more! Through observation of modern artists, this art-filled week emphasizes learning the concepts and practices behind modern and contemporary art creation. This imaginative camp comes to a close with the Headfirst Gallery exhibition and the opportunity to take home all of the creations in your very own portfolio.

Accept the challenge! Work cooperatively with your teammates to complete engineering missions throughout this challenging week. Achieving mission goals necessitates the construction of trucks, bridges, elevators, cranes, bulldozers, conveyor belts, and other motorized and alternatively powered contraptions. Instruction is provided by our highly-trained staff. Familiarity with the LEGO® Technic building system is highly recommended and can be obtained by attending Engineering Innovation camp, although this is not required.
Camp OfferedArtistic Artists
Explore and discover while creating unusual and traditional masterpieces at Artistic Artists camp! Campers work independently and in groups to produce impressionist and contemporary masterpieces while exploring their creative side. Headfirst artists are challenged in a variety of mixed media including acrylic and watercolor painting, clay, collage, and pen and ink. They learn and develop their own Impressionist art, 3-D creations, Picasso self-portraits and more. This diverse week emphasizes learning through observation of worldly artists and the challenging concepts and practices behind classical and contemporary art creation. Artistic Artists camp comes to a close with the Headfirst Gallery exhibition and the opportunity to take home all of the creations in your very own portfolio.

Lights, camera, ACTION! Ready to make your own movie? In this creative “eyes-on” week, groups produce their own stop-motion cinematic ideas and write the scripts. Learn how to shoot and edit a stop-motion movie using high-tech iPad and iMovie technology to create Claymation, Candymation, LEGOmation and more. All campers spend time as the director, camera operator, editor and producer. Finish the week by showing your movie on the big screen at the Headfirst Film Festival!

During this adrenaline-filled week, campers get a change of scenery everyday in the outdoors! Independent and self-guided activities allow campers to enjoy a field trip everyday while focusing on teamwork and developing leadership skills. This unique and once-a-summer experience takes campers to a world where rock climbing, hiking, canoeing, biking and more are all wrapped up in one action-packed week. Campers finish the week with an exciting trip, acting like monkeys swinging from tree to tree or trapeze artists walking a tightrope to get to the breathtaking zip lines that the Adventure Park at Sandy Spring has to offer. We can’t wait for the adventure to begin!
Camp OfferedExplore DC
Every tourist goes to the typical Washington DC sites, but now campers can explore the unexplored. Gaining new friendships and experiences, campers will come home as tour guides with new and exciting facts about Washington DC. Staying away from the Smithsonian’s, campers will take trips off the beaten path. We’ll discover the vast halls of the Newseum with interactive exhibits and team challenges. The O St. Mansion will offer a unique experience unlike any other as we explore the secret doors and odd artifacts collected in this one of a kind building. Campers will finish the week with an Urban Adventure around the city with a giant scavenger hunt to some of the best kept secrets. This unique way to explore DC is sure to please all!

Grab a camera and map to step into the world of a Washington DC tourist. Travel around the city and visit some of the most famous museums and monuments. Become an expert in international espionage and solve Operation: Crack the Code at the International Spy Museum. Adventure into the world of Madame Tussaud’s with glamorous figures like Justin Bieber, Johnny Depp, and Beyonce! Explore space with new friends to discover what astronauts live like every day at the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum. Campers will race around our amazing city to famous structures while competing in team challenges and adventure obstacles. Who can show their best knowledge of the city this week?
