Setting Expectations Part I

Working at Headfirst Comes With Responsibility and a Positive Attitude. These are our Expectations:

Since our entire business is focused on working with or around children as young as 3½ years old, we have a handful of mandatory requirements. To ensure our expectations are met as employers, it is vital we hire individuals committed to upholding, without exception, attributes, values, and behaviors Headfirst Camp was built upon. Please review the following application guidelines which will explain some of the policies and procedures of the application process.

Mandatory and Non-Negotiable Guidelines

General

Age Verification: All candidates must be at least 18 years of age by June 1 or a graduating high school senior. If hired, proof of age may be required.
Background Checks: Headfirst Camps performs criminal background checks for all jobs.
Minimum 2 Years Experience working with children between the ages of 3 to 13 years old.

PMT’s as Role Models

We expect our PMTs to act as role models by being on time every day, dressing appropriately, and maintaining a professional appearance at all times:

Be on time. On Monday mornings we have meetings starting at 7 am. Tuesday-Friday camp meetings begin as early as 8 am. Camp day ends around 3:30 at the latest.
Wear the appropriate attire consisting of Headfirst issued nametag, staff shirts, hat (if applicable). Shorts, pants, athletic shoes (no open toed shoes), and socks are also part of the camp attire.
Wear the appropriate pool attire. Pool shoes are acceptable in pool area. One-piece women’s swimsuits and trunk shorts for men are mandatory.
Be presentable and well-rested each and every camp morning.
Be highly presentable and well-groomed each morning (ie: men=clean shaven).

General (Male and Female) Appearance Requirements

Intentional body alteration or modification for the purpose of achieving a visible, physical effect that disfigures, deforms or similarly detracts from a professional image is prohibited. Examples: visible tattoos, brands, body piercings (other than traditional ear piercing for women), earlobe expansion, tongue piercing or splitting, tooth filling and visible, disfiguring skin implants.

Male Appearance Requirements

Jewelry — Only one ring on each hand; a watch is permitted and encouraged.
Face — No beards; clean shaven; mustaches must be neatly trimmed and cannot extend below the corners of the mouth.
Hair — Must be natural color and cut above the ears. No bi-level cuts allowed.

Female Appearance Requirements

Jewelry — Only one ring on each hand is permitted, with the exception being a wedding set, and a watch. One earring in each ear is permitted. Post earrings may not exceed the size of a quarter. Hoop earrings no larger than a dime are also permitted.
Hair — Must be neatly combed and arranged in a classic, easy-to-maintain, proportionally balanced style. Extreme styles are not allowed. If the hair color is changed it must be natural looking, well maintained, and appropriate to skin tone. Subtle highlighting is permitted as long as it creates a uniform look over the whole head.
Make-up — Minimal allowed (foundation, blush, lipstick, and mascara in natural tones may be worn). Eyeliner and eye shadow are acceptable in neutral colors that are close to your skin tone. Fingernails, polish, if worn, should be clear or fresh tone cream enamel. Nail length must not exceed 1/4” from fingertip.
