Join us on Island XCamp as campers take part in an action-packed week filled with physical, mental and team challenges and friendly competitions. Campers learn survival skills and put their problem solving abilities to the test, in addition to participating in fun-filled activities. Rock climbing, raft building, battery making, team relay races, scavenger hunts and obstacle courses round out this “can’t miss” week of camp. Headfirst XCamp will bring out the “survival instinct” within you!
Camp OfferedJoin the Circus!
Campers explore their creative and silly side by discovering and developing their circus and performing arts skills. Circus arts taught include stilt walking, juggling, balloon twisting, plate spinning, clowning, face painting, magic tricks and more! Campers show off their new skills at the end of the week with their own Cirque du Headfirst performance!

Campers should prepare for a fun-filled week as they embark on a “race around the world” and take on new, exciting adventures each day. Camp OfferedDangerous Boys & Daring Girls
Inspired by the books The Dangerous Book for Boys and The Daring Book for Girls, campers explore all kinds of exciting adventures and mesmerizing ideas. Campers make slingshots, lava lamps, water bombs, friendship bracelets, and topnotch paper airplanes along with learning secret spy codes and playing capture the flag. This camp is only for the daring and dangerous!

Camp OfferedMythBusters
Ready to challenge popular beliefs, urban myths and the laws of physics? Campers work together to become true mythbusters as they conduct fun experiments to answer all kinds of fun questions. Can water power a rocket? How do soap bubbles float? Why do curve balls curve? Can we use air to launch marshmallows? How do voices travel on a string? Don’t miss this fun-filled, hands-on week!
Camp OfferedImaginative Inventors
Have you ever dreamt of becoming the next world-famous inventor? Campers transform into modern day Thomas Edisons as they design and build fun, imaginative devices. There are no limits this week as campers investigate interesting and bizarre inventions, build “Rube Goldberg” machines, create their own games, and construct gadgets to help solve real-life problems.
Camp OfferedHarry Potter’s Hogwarts
Campers step into the world of Harry Potter and spend the week at Hogwarts. The week begins with campers reaching into the sorting hat to find out their house. Once divided into two houses, campers participate in challenges and games to earn points. Potion making, Headfirst Quidditch, wand making, muggle magic tricks, and more guarantee a fun-filled week. Who will win the House Cup?

Campers investigate and explore the world of engineering by creating and constructing amazing structures. Build a life-size geodesic dome, design a thrilling rollercoaster, construct an arch you can walk under, and so much more. Using teamwork and problem solving, campers work around tricky obstacles and push their creative abilities to the limit as they experiment and build to reach their final goal.

Mexican and Southwestern foods are among the most popular cuisines in America. In this summer camp, campers will learn to make their favorite Mexican items, like salsas, guacamole, tortilla chips, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, empanadas, fajitas and the list goes on and on and on!
Camp OfferedGourmet Chef Challenge
Just like on everybody’s favorite cooking show, each day of this week long camp will focus on one mystery ingredient. Using that item, cooking campers will make mouth-watering specialties, traditional favorites and explore new ingredients, tastes and combinations. Are you up to the challenge?

We’ve all heard the old saying “you are what you eat”, but have you ever really thought about what it really means or how it affects you? Put on your detective hat and get ready to solve some tricky mysteries. Together, your team of investigators will learn the science behind crime solving and forensics, including gathering evidence, fingerprinting techniques and analysis. Summer Splash: June 11–15
Summer is here! Join Headfirst Day Camp as we splash into our favorite season discovering all it has to offer. Prepare for the sunny days ahead by designing visors, making your own sunglasses, and experimenting with UV beads. Explore summer nightlife by creating glow-in-the-dark fireflies. This time of year has to have water! Fun-filled water games and relays are just some of the ways we celebrate the start of summer. End the week dancing away at the Rock ‘N Roll Beach Party. {back to top}
There’s No Place Like Space: June 18–22
Headfirst Camp is out of this world! Prepare for an important space mission by creating your own specially-equipped space helmet. Then blast off into space by building your own rocket. All Aboard Gomer’s Pirate Adventure: June 25–29
Ahoy Mateys! Day campers jump aboard Captain Gomer’s pirate ship and live the life of a buccaneer creating pirate hats, patches, hooks, and even their own pet parrot. Campers join together to help Gomer find his buried treasure wearing their pirate garb. Gomer is known to share his pirate loot with campers! Party in the U.S.A: July 2–6
Headfirst Day Campers celebrate our nation’s birthday along with Gomer’s birthday. Shhh! We are throwing Gomer a surprise party! Campers create patriotic hats, construct firecracker shakers, decorate Gomer’s birthday card, make homemade ice cream, and participate in U.S.A. themed fun and games! Gomer’s Underwater Adventure: July 9–13
Dive into an exciting underwater adventure with Gomer as we explore the ocean and the creatures that live there. Campers create underwater ocean bottles, make a rainbow fish, and listen to wondrous sounds of seashells. Water games and relays add to the excitement. It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No, it’s superhero Gomer! Join Gomer and Headfirst campers as we discover our super powers and create superhero costumes. Dinosaur Detectives: July 23–27
Join Gomer and become a dinosaur detective as we explore the prehistoric world of dinosaurs! Campers make fossils, dig for bones, make dinosaurs, and build erupting volcanoes. At the end of the week, the dinosaur detectives go on a fun-filled dinosaur hunt! {back to top}
Going Buggy!: July 30–August 3
Headfirst Day Campers are going buggy for bugs! Create bug sculptures, make pudding dirt with yummy gummy worms, and observe real bugs in nature. Elephants and monkeys and lions, oh my! Extended Care

Headfirst offers extended care before and after camp for campers who need to arrive early or stay late. Children in the extended care program participate in a variety of well-supervised, age appropriate activities ranging from sports, stories and puzzles to board games and time on the playground. After care campers enjoy a snack and juice.

  • Regular Drop-off is from 8:45 am to 9:05 am
    (Exception on Mondays when drop-off begins at 8:30 am)
  • Regular Pick-up is from 2:50 pm to 3:10 pm
    (Carpool line begins to form at 2:45pm)
  • Morning Extended Care is offered from 7:30 am to 9:00 am
  • Afternoon Extended Care is offered from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
    Headfirst has an extremely strict late pick up policy and associated penalty fees — please pick your camper up by 6:00 pm to avoid penalties.
  • Extended Care is available weekly and daily.
    Please enroll your camper online for weekly extended care. Day-to-day extended care or "walk-up" campers for extended care should please use the Extended Care Enrollment Form and hand it to a Headfirst counselor during carpool or call the office at (202) 625-1921. Please call at least one day ahead of time so we are able to process your daily enrollment in a more efficient manner.
  • Fees: Morning Extended Care costs $75 per week, and Afternoon Extended Care costs $125 per week. You can add extended care options to the “shopping cart” during the online registration process.
