As part of the extended day program, we are now offering mini-camps during select weeks of the summer. Mini-camps are offered during the afternoon extended day time frame and end at 4:45pm. At that time, campers have the option of transitioning to afternoon extended day until 6pm. Mini-camps are designed to allow campers to sample additional offerings from Headfirst Summer Camps:
Coding (1st to 3rd Grade)
Campers will get a chance to try their hand at Coding with the guidance of experienced Headfirst team members. Using Scratch, campers will be introduced to programming by creating their own interactive animation or game. For 90 minutes each day, campers will use computers provided by Headfirst as they get comfortable with the Scratch program, think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively.
Lacrosse (K to 3rd Grade)
For 90 minutes each day, campers will have the opportunity to learn lacrosse from an elite coaching staff of former collegiate players. This Mini Camp will provide both beginner and experienced campers with new skills as well as a deeper understanding of the game. Campers will be taken through a series of shooting, stick handling and defensive drills throughout the week in order to build a strong foundation and improve on existing skills. All equipment will be provided by Headfirst.
Baseball (K to 3rd Grade)
Baseball mini-camp will provide both beginner and experienced campers with new skills as well as a deeper understanding of the game. Campers will be taken through a series of throwing, hitting, base running and defensive drills throughout the week in order to build a strong foundation and improve on fundamentals. Led by an elite coaching staff of former collegitate and professional players, this mini-camp will meet for 90 minutes each day during the one-week session. Campers are required to bring their own baseball glove. All other equipment will be provided.
Spanish Immersion (K to 3rd Grade)
Building on the popularity of last year’s program, we will be bringing CommuniKids back to Headfirst Summer Camps. As the premier language immersion school in the DC Metro Area, CommuniKids will provide campers with active and fun activities, taught by native speaking staff, to teach and reinforce the Spanish language in an interactive and engaging environment.
