Junior Day Camp – Oakton

Overview

Our Junior Day Camp will excite your child’s imagination through hands-on activities in art, music and sensory play. This program gives younger children the perfect opportunity to grow their listening and transition skills, as well as practice independence within our lively camp atmosphere. Our story-based approach invites active, thoughtful play as campers fully immerse themselves in the theme of the week, from decorations to costumes to crafts. Lots of outdoor time and perennial favorites such as story time, group games, and moon bounce round off this wonderful first-camp experience. We make the transition to camp easy on parents as well, with our best-in-class staff and easy carpool drop off! Note: In accordance with Virginia State Ordinances, Headfirst has 60 minutes of quiet time for Jr. Day Campers in our daily curriculum.

Weekly Themes

Prehistoric Playtime

It’s hard to see your own awesomeness when you’re constantly comparing yourself to the mighty reptiles that once ruled the earth… just ask Lizzy the Lizard! You don’t have to be the strongest, fastest or even most aesthetically pleasing creature to be great and admired, every being has something amazing worth celebrating.

Jammin’ in the Jungle

Ribbet. Croak. Ca-caw! What’s that sound? It’s the echo of our campers venturing into the newly discovered jungle of Headfirstazan! There they will find slippery snakes, bat-like birds, and creepy crawlies that they will remember for a lifetime. Grab your magnifying glass! Spray your bug repellent! It’s time to dive deep into the jungle where we will bounce back from obstacles and discover some of the most dazzling mysteries of our world.

Deep Sea Discovery

In the loneliest corner and deepest trenches of the ocean, lives a thousand-year old mystery waiting to be discovered. This week at Headfirst Camps, the Lost City of Atlantis, once thought to be nothing more than a tall tale, comes to life! Campers will have a wave of fun as they learn about the greatest mysteries of the deep sea!

Oh, Biscuits, How do I Reach My Goal?

Campers will explore the exciting world of goal setting through play, creativity and teamwork. Help Bluey and Bingo build friendship and reach goals, all while being creative and having fun. Campers will embark on various activities designed to help them identify their personal goals, develop strategies to achieve them, and learn the importance of supporting one another. Each fun (and funny) activity will reinforce the spirit of friendship and perseverance, while making sure we’re laughing through it all.

Tahitian Tour

There’s a lot of rumbling coming from the South Pacific Ocean! The Polynesian goddess, Pele, is frustrated by the way humans have been treating the Earth, and is erupting in fits of anger, creating a string of volcanoes ravaging the area. Our campers will be island-hopping to learn as much as they can about the region, including the flora, fauna and wildlife that make Polynesia so unique. By Friday, they’ll need to convince Pele to control her emotions and save this beautiful region, before she unleashes her largest volcano yet and buries it all under ash.

Growing a Garden

Let’s grow a garden! When Gomer learns that most food comes from plants, he wants to grow his own garden but isn’t quite sure where to start. Campers will bounce not break when setbacks hit during a week full of gardening fun!

Fun at the Fair

Come one, come all – the State Fair is here at Headfirst and each state is ready to wow! The big top tent is pitched, the animals and performers are all here. Now, all we need is you here so we can begin! With representatives from each corner of our nation, we’ll discover what every region has to offer. Come give it a whirl, this camp only comes to town once a year!

Welcome to the Woods

We’re goin’ on a creature hunt, will you join us? Be on the lookout for squirrels, bears, birds, and trees as we wander through the woods, Headfirst style!

Fantastic Beasts Found

Mermaids and unicorns and dragons… oh my! Let your imagination run as far as a centaurs gallop and as high as a dragon’s flight can take you. If you can imagine it, it can happen at Headfirst! During this magical week, we’ll explore the legendary creatures and objects of some of our favorite tall tales as we blur the lines between fact and fantasy. And don’t worry, there won’t just be fairies for these fairy tales – there’s something for everybody this week!

Music Makers

Musical mayhem arises when Gomer decides he wants to try out for the Gomerian Orchestra! Explore the wonderful world of music this week while creating instruments and expressing yourself through song and dance!
